John waited until Rodney left the room before pouncing Carson.
"Stay away from him!" The vampire growled, his green hazel eyes glowing jade green, fangs extended. "He's MINE!"
"John, take it easy now, lad. Rodney and I are just friends." Carson said
backing away as he tried to calm the irate, hungry vampire and escape the
hold John had on him. "Scent me, John. You'd know if I felt that way about
him. I don't."
John scented the air and realized that the lust smell was fading, 'Rodney?
Lusting for whom? Me or Carson?' "Rodney, and something else his..fear?"
"Ay, he's confused right now. I think he's feeling the same pull you are but
he's never had a relationship with another man and it's scaring him a lot.
You have to give him time, John." Carson said slipping out of the vampire's
grip once it loosened. Carson walked over to his storage unit and brought
out a package of cloned blood. "Here you need to calm down before you feed
off of me or Radek."
John took the cloned blood from Carson and put it in a glass beaker and
heated it up in a heating unit. "I'm sorry, Carson. I guess I never expected
Rodney to be my Mate." He said timidly before drinking the blood.
"No more than I expected to find and fall in love with Radek, Lad, and then
find out he's a Chosen One for the European Clans. Though I'm glad to have
the back up. Especially when you Turn Rodney." Carson said sitting in front
of the lanky vampire.
"That's not going to happen until we get back to Earth. He's going to have
questions and questions. I want to take him to the Manor to talk to some of
the Bonded Pairs there." John said emphatically.
"John, what if Rodney is fatally wounded while you're out in the field?
Don't you think he deserves to know?" Carson challenged.
John sighed, "I'll deal with it. I waited this long what are a few centuries
more? I'm not going to force it. I saw what happened when Nick did that. I
don't care what he and Warrick say, it's still Turning without consent and I
won't do that."
"I know I didn't just hear that. You realize you could go insane! As your
Chosen One and CMO of this expedition I can't let that happen. Nick and
Warrick talked to me before we left and let me know most of the questions
someone who might be your mate would have. I can help. Don't make this
decision for him. Let Rodney make it. You could be here forever you don't
know for sure if Rodney's soul will ever come back to Atlantis." Carson said
emphatically.
"I promise I'll think about it." John said finishing the beaker and rinsing
it out in the sink, "Thanks for the blood see you for a 'refill' in a couple
of days?" At Carson's nod John left the sickbay absorbed in his thoughts,
not hearing the rapid beating of another heart nearby.
Rodney edged out of the alcove he'd hidden in, eyes wide. John seemed so
twitchy and on edge, and Rodney just wanted to make sure that Carson would be okay. That conversation though about turning, feeding, drinking blood, bonded pairs and soul mates, made it sound like John was a vampire. How could that be? He'd seen John in full double to triple sunshine and nothing had ever happened. John couldn't be a vampire he had to have some sort of medical condition or there was another reason, John and Carson knew that he was eavesdropping and that little play was just a cruel joke. That had to be it. Taking another hallway Rodney headed to his lab, his plans to ask Carson for advice regarding gay sex in general and ideas for getting one Major John Sheppard, specifically, gone, and Rodney's heart shattered.
