"Oh, well, what do your people think this was, if you don't mind my asking." Daniel asked always intrigued about stories the native people had to explain the Stargate.

"This area is sparsely populated. I think only a handful of people have even seen this ring. We don't see them often, so we don't know what they think about it. I am Qui-Gon, and this is Obi-Wan. Come there are refreshments in the house." Qui-Gon led the visitors across the meadow to the house.

"Padawan, see to our guests comfort while I get refreshments." Qui-Gon said before crossing to the far corner of the room where the kitchen was set up and quickly creating some simple finger foods and drinks. He also checked on the meal that was slow cooking on the hotplate units.

"Yes, Master." Daniel and the others started a little at Obi-Wan response to Qui-Gon.

"Obi-Wan why do you address him as Master?" Daniel leaned forward and asked softly once Qui-Gon was busily working on the snacks.

"He is my teacher, that is his title. Padawan is short for Padawan Learner, I am also called an apprentice." Obi-Wan simply said.

"So Padawan is another word for student?" Sam guessed.

Obi-Wan nodded, "So where do you come from? Traveling through that ring must be amazing. I've never seen the ring do what it's done before."

"Well, we come from another planet called Earth. We're explorers, and it takes a couple of trips to get used to traveling through the ring, we call it a Stargate. It can take us to anywhere in galaxy that has a Stargate." Daniel answered.

"So just how many people are in the area and how far is it to see your elders or whatever you call your ruling council?" Jack asked seaming eager to make contact with someone in charge.

"Well, I think there are only a handful of people in our general area. We are more or less out in the wilderness. It's many days travel under ideal conditions to Coruscant where our elders are." Obi-Wan answered the team leader. He lightly touched each of them with the Force to see if there was any deception in the visitors aura's that meant they weren't what they appeared to be. There was a lot of pain experienced and shared between them. It bound them together in such a way that it was a start on a bond that rivaled his own teaching bond with his Master.

"So it's not a trip you'd recommend." Jack said guessing that their hosts just wanted them out of here and to let them get back to their lives. He knew this was a common enough reaction to their trips through the Stargate to other free planets where the Gou'ald had either left or the inhabitants had fought back and won.

"No, I wouldn't recommend it. You're carrying weapons. Have you fought in many battles?" Qui-Gon said as he brought the tray containing the snacks and drinks to the table and sat next the his young student.

"We only carry weapons for our protection. It's hard to know what's on the other side of the Stargate even when we send a probe. The situation can change quickly." Sam said to their hosts. While taking a glass and a snack from the tray.

"What sort of situations have you encountered? If you have been to other planets then doesn't the sight of your weapons in fact create those situations you'd wish to avoid." Qui-Gon said.

Daniel leaned closer to Jack, "Jack we have to tell them about the Gou'ald. They have to know how to protect themselves and the planet."
